Bern, baby Bern! (bahaha)

Hellooo!!!! So, tyesterday was the first day for sightseeing on Busabout, so we wandered around the Old Town of Bern. We saw:

An old clock.

Needless to say, there isn't that much to see or do in the little town of Bern, but it is quite cute. At 6 in the afternoon Millie and I had returned to the hostel because there wasn't anything else to see, when we met up with about five familiar Australian faces and decided to walk down to the free public swimming pools. Saw the massive, fast-flowing river that was beside the pool and said - stuff the pools, we're going in the river! When I put my feet in it was freezing, but once I jumped in I was having too much fun to even notice the temperature. needles to say, it's quite dangerous, but there are heaps of exit points along the way.

too bad that switzerland is mega expensive! sorry about the orientation of some of the pictures, i couldn't find out how to rotate them, normally i can. you'll just have to turn your heads around.

Busabout Begins!

Hey everyone,

I've just spent four days in London, with Amelia's family, and I had a fantastic time. Saw Buckingham Palace, Westminister Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral, the TATE, Wicked - the musical, Harry Potter 6 - the movie and shopped. Yay!! Millie and I left London yesterday at lunchtime and caught the Eurostar to Paris, where we stayed the night. Our hotel was great (expensive though!) and had a limited view of the Eiffel Tower and a fantastic view of Sacre Coeur.

This morning we got up extremely early (for a holiday at least!) and caught the metro to the Busabout pickup point for our departure at 8am. The bus was mostly empty, thankfully, so we could stretch out as we watched movies and drove for nine and a half hours (including three rest breaks) across france, through the border, and into Switzerland.

We arrived in the capital of Switzerland, Bern, at 5:30. The hostel is pretty good... clean, but the room is teensy, Food in Switzerland is SO expensive! So I didn't really eat dinner... oh well. We'll find a supermarket tomorrow...hopefully. Our hostel is right next to the main river in Bern, the river Aare? Aaer? Anyway, it looks so invitiing, so I might hop in tomorrow. The current is really strong, so I might wuss out though, we'll see.

Paris to London

Hello!

Yes, my blogs have been few and far between, but now that the summer holidays have begun, hopefully my terrible track record will improve. I've just spent a week in Paris (fabulous) and I arrived in London yesterday. Today we just caught the tube up to Buckingham Palace, to find there was no changing of the guards today, then walked across to Trafalgar Square, walked across the river to Westminister Abbey, and caught the tube back to our hotel in Earl's Court because we were so tired! We did plan to go out along the Thames this evening, but in typical London style, it started to pour, so we stayed in and watched Pirates of the Caribbean 3 on TV instead =P Photos will be posted later!
